alyson invited me out to capture this special moment for her and her business back in the summer of 2023! at time time we were both students at the university of iowa and we worked at cambus together, so that’s how we met. here’s alyson provided bio!
Originally from Geneseo, Illinois, Alyson Holevoet is a ceramic artist based in Iowa City, Iowa. In 2024, she earned her BFA in Ceramics and her BA in Music (Conc. in Bassoon Performance) from the University of Iowa.
Originally from Geneseo, Illinois, Alyson Holevoet is a ceramic artist based in Iowa City, Iowa. In 2024, she earned her BFA in Ceramics and her BA in Music (Conc. in Bassoon Performance) from the University of Iowa. alyson is currently the Administrative/Academic Coordinator for the School of Art, Art History, and Design at the University of Iowa. She also works as the Kiln and Back Room Supervisor for Artisan Insight Studios in North Liberty, Iowa. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions and art sales in the Midwest, and she celebrated a solo exhibition in 2024.
In her work, she investigates the layered and evolving nature of memories and the intersections they share with time, our sense of self, and human connection. Her work reflects how the past and present coexist, reshaping one another through our lived experiences.
(now here’s what i have to say about her) alyson is an artist and was almost done with her degree program at the time of this shoot. which leads us to the photos below. on the day of this event, alyson told me she only needed 1 thing. candid moments of her in action doing what she does best. and i think we captured just that. selling to clients and talking art with members of the public. pictures of the art and her booth she designed at the event. and alyson being herself. at the end of the day i bought 3 pieces from her and her business. not because i had to, but because of the hard work i had seen in public, as well as behind the scenes. so i say to alyson: thank you for trusting me to captured this special moment. this was the first of many creative project we did together, and i’m looking forward to the next one. feel free to check her instagram out here, and click here name up top to visit her website.
